Dissection of the Eye: Critique of the Protest Image

Eye Dissection is a program dedicated to the analysis and critique of cultural productions, whether they are commercial, local, or independent. Through Twitch livestreams, we create spaces for dialogue between emerging young artists and the general public. Our goal is to promote reflection on the importance of art and literature in the social fabric and explore how we create art in our society.
Within the scope of our work with words, we have released five editorial productions. Among them are four volumes of "Disección de ojo: Critique of the protest image" and "Disección de Ojo II: Weaving the word".
The National Strike, which began on April 28, 2021, and ended without us realizing it, encouraged an initiative in which different students and professionals of arts and literature participated. We were concerned with examining the signs, symbols, and images that emerged during the days of the protests.
The following volumes emerge from various conversations, reflections, and discussions that took place within this context. They aim to invite us to approach the current situation from new perspectives and to study the ways in which we articulate ourselves. With this publication, we seek to expand critical thinking towards the imaginaries of violence and revolution that continue to be relevant to our context, revealing much about the perspectives and aspirations we project towards the future.

Dissection of the Eye II: Weaving the Word
This book compiles the works and dialogues of the participants in our episodes, which address topics such as oral traditions and indigenous poetry, the representation of violence in Colombia, and artistic practices from the perspective of gender identity. These special episodes were made possible with the support of the "Jóvenes en Movimiento" grant from the Ministry of Culture in 2022.
